Board of Directors & Chair Positions
Dear SEC Managing Committee Members:
On Saturday, July 11, 2009, we had a great English Corner and a heated discussion on Leadership. 15 people attended, a few new members joined. After our discussion on the definition of leadership, characteristic/qualities of a good leader, leadership style, and experience members had regarding leadership, we focused on the leadership of our English Club. The members present discussed the official position/roles and responsibilities in our English Club. They talked about what positions they were interested in and what kind of commitment they would invest into the Club.
For committee members not present, below is a list of the board of directors and chair positions and some descriptions. Throughout the week, I will try to contact you to discuss your interest and level of commitment you can make to the club. Don't worry too much about the burden of this responsibility... the Club is looking for 3 things: 1) You have the passion/heart to see that our English Club grow and expand; 2) You try to attend our weekly Sat afternoon English Corners (2-3times per month is acceptable); and 3) You're willing to invest about 1+ hour in your week to help out our English Club. Not too hard, right?
So during this week, we are trying to find out and gather interest to see which member is suitable for each official position (Disregard my earlier email if you received it. Nothing is official yet!). By this Saturday, July 18th, we will take some time to formalize and do a final vote for the official board & chair positions. I encourage you all to attend this Saturday to discuss more about the vision & future of our English Club, the leadership structure of our Club, and any other creative & innovative ideas you have. If you cannot attend this week, please reply to all of us with your thoughts, suggestions, and comments. Thanks!
Regards,
Paul Yin
